Principal’s Message

Dear Parents and Students,

It is hard to believe that June has arrived and another school term is coming to an end. Congratulations to all students on their achievements and improvements during Term 2. The last couple of weeks is very busy for both teachers and students and I understand that it is stressful for students due to exams. However, there is nothing to worry about as long as students manage their study time appropriately and consult with their teachers when they do not understand the topic. I believe that all my students do their best in exams. There is no scheduled exams for our Year 7 to Year 9 students but instead there will be assessments due throughout the last couple of weeks of the term. Students will not lose anything but gain an academic week to study and cover more topics. There are exams for Years 10 and 11 as usual. I strongly advise you to send your children to school and do not assume that this is the last week where nothing is happening in the school. Reports will be posted to your address during the holiday time.

We had an incursion from the Victorian police this term. They had programs with Years 7 to 10 students about cyber bullying. Officers presented some really insightful information. I would like to share some of the highlights of this presentation with you all. So you can implement at home.

There is valuable information for parents, educators and children in the web site. Please visit the site and undoubtedly you will find it very useful.

I am pleased to inform that one of my year 12 students has been recognised at Premier’s VC Awards for his studying. The premier’s VCE Awards recognises the outstanding results of individual students and pays tribute to the principals, teachers and families who play a valuable role in supporting him during his VCE studies. As you are aware that he came first in VCE Turkish Language exam in Victoria last year. I would like to congratulate him for studying hard and his teacher Mr Yavuz Asik for his dedication.

I would also like to thank all my staff members again for contributing to Sirius College’s success. I wish all families a safe and relaxing school holiday and look forward to seeing you all in Term 3.

Regards,
Mehmet Cicek
